Exhibited at Van Gogh Live, Almond Blossoms was a series of several paintings made between 1888 and 1890 in the south of France. The blossoming almond trees were special to van Gogh, as were most flowering trees.
Van Gogh enjoyed painting blossoms and flowering trees, finding them to be aesthetically pleasing. Representing awakening and hope, Almond Blossoms was a celebration of the arrival of his nephew, his namesake.
