Works by Tintinimaginatio
Tintinimaginatio is not an artist but the Belgian company that manages the legacy of Hergé, the pen name of Georges Remi (1907–1983), creator of The Adventures of Tintin. Known for decades as Moulinsart, after the French name of Captain Haddock's country house (Marlinspike Hall in English), it took the name Tintinimaginatio in 2022. It holds the worldwide rights to exploit Hergé's work commercially and controls licensing, merchandise, publishing partnerships and exhibitions.
Background
After Hergé's death in 1983 his estate passed to his widow, Fanny Vlamynck, later Fanny Rodwell, who, with her husband Nick Rodwell, built the company that protects and promotes the Tintin universe. The company is known for guarding Hergé's images closely and for strict control of how Tintin is reproduced. It is linked to the Hergé Museum in Louvain-la-Neuve, Belgium, opened in 2009, which displays original drawings and documents.
Tintin, l'aventure immersive
In the catalogue the company is credited, with Hergé, for Tintin, the immersive exhibition Tintin, l'aventure immersive, which Tintinimaginatio co-produced with Culturespaces. It ran at the Atelier des Lumières in Paris from October 2022 to January 2023, returning in spring 2023. Hergé's drawings, from the early black-and-white albums to the later color books, were enlarged and animated across the walls and floors of the former foundry, set to music. The show was organized in chapters following Tintin and his circle: Snowy, Captain Haddock, the detectives Thomson and Thompson, Professor Calculus and the opera singer Bianca Castafiore.
The same venue has staged similar digital exhibitions devoted to painters, including Vincent van Gogh's Starry Night, Yves Klein's Infinite Blue and Salvador Dalí's The Endless Enigma.
Where to see Hergé's work
The Hergé Museum in Louvain-la-Neuve holds the main permanent display of original Tintin art. The immersive Paris exhibition has closed.
