Vampire/Love and Pain by Edvard Munch

Year: 1895Artist: Categories: ,

The painting originally called Love and Pain but due of how the woman was draped over the man making it look like she was either biting or kissing him changed to Vampire is a painting done by Munch in 1893.

Some people see this painting as a female vampire sucking the blood from the male in her embrace due to the discoloration of the male’s skin and how the female has much more color to her own skin but Munch has always seen it as a female kissing her lover’s neck while he hugs her lower half in affection.

Munch painted six different types of the same painting, just in different ways, styles and settings between 1893 and 1895.
