Bacchus by Leonardo da Vinci

Year: 15101514Artist: Categories: ,

The painting is of a male form with a headband and leopard skin, seated in an peaceful space. He points with his right hand off to his left, and with his left hand grasps his staff and while pointing down to earth.

The painting done from 1510–1515 by Leonardo da Vinci was based off a drawing made by him which is to believed as Saint John the Baptist, but some say that the painting was completed by one of da Vinci’s followers, perhaps Cesare da Sesto, Francesco Melzi, Marco d’Oggiono, or Cesare Bernazzano, although the deterioration of the painting means it is difficult to decipher the true artist.
