Ocean Atlas is a sculpture that was commissioned by B.R.E.E.F (Bahamas Reef Environment Educational Foundation) with the aim of creating an underwater sculpture garden in honor of its founder, Sir Nicholas Nuttall.
Sculptor Jason deCaires Taylor designed Ocean Atlas as a 60-ton, 18-foot high sculpture that lies beneath the sea near New Providence in the Bahamas. It represents a young girl holding the weight of the ocean.
Ocean Atlas is the largest single sculpture that’s ever been deployed underwater.
