Spring Scattering Stars is a Neoclassical oil on canvas painting that was done by American painter and muralist Edwin Blashfield in 1927.
Measuring 130 x 110 cm, the painting represents spring. In it, we see a nude female standing on a “wet” moon while scattering stars across the sky. Behind her, a small child appears.
When the crescent moon hangs low in the sky and its “horns” point up directly at the sun (or sky), the moon takes on the shape of a bowl. This is known as a “wet” moon.
