The Three Graces by Antonio Canova

Year: 1817Artist: Categories: ,

The Three Graces have been sculpted by many artists and displayed in many museums across the world, and all are named the same. This listing focuses on The Three Graces, the daughters of Zeus and companions to the Muses who bestowed gifts upon humanity.

Canova depicts the daughters from left to right as Euphrosyne (mirth), Aglaio (elegance), and Thalia (youth and beauty) in an intricate, marble embrace. The sculpture was commissioned by the Duke of Bedford.
