Sleeping Beauty has certainly been depicted in many forms, including as a movie icon, a fairytale princess, and the object of a handsome prince’s love that would wake her from an endless, cursed sleep to live happily ever after.
Artist Louis Sussmann-Hellborn was a gifted sculptor at the Berlin Academy of Arts. He studied in France, Belgium, and England, and lived in Italy from 1852 to 1856. He co-founded the Royal Museum of Decorative Arts and was involved in building the sculpture collection at the Royal Museum in Berlin. Sussmann-Hellborn was also head of the Royal Porcelain Manufactory (KPM) in Berlin, Germany, from 1882 to 1887.
