Francisco Goya
Francisco Goya was a Spanish romantic painter and printmaker, considered to be the most important Spanish artist of the late 18th and early 19th centuries. His works reflected modern historical disturbances and influenced 19th- and 20th-century painters. He was born in Fuendetodos in Aragon, Spain in 1746, and studied painting from age 14 under José Luzán y Martinez, and later with Anton Raphael Mengs in Madrid. Goya married Josefa Bayeu in 1773. He is often referred to as “The Last Of The Old Masters And The First of The Moderns.”
